Hi Shayna,

Many local colleges offer certification programs in event planning. I would also check with the International Special Events Society ISES.COM) as they offer a certification program and have many local networking chapters. We can help you with your legal, marketing, and insurance needs once you are ready to get started.

Additionally, there is a large trade show in San Diego in January called The Special Event(an information link is located on our home page). This show is for those in the event planning business. Feel free to contact me if I can help you further.

Shayna,
That is all good advice. I like to attend trade shows that specifically cater to our industry. Also, marketing is key because there are so many of us out there. where do you currently advertise or market your company? Call Kim if you need anything, she is very accessible and her organization knows how to market our industry. I have already called her about 25 times!! Good luck.
